Technology & Intellectual Property Rights
Intellectual Property protection is key to securing long term profitable income for the business.
The first patent covers the general use of the combination of glass pack and LED based video screen (general application patent) in the Eurasia region with a priority date is of 29.04.2004. This patent however does not provide protection outside Eurasia due to the fact that the priority right for filing an international patent application has expired. This patent however gives the ViGlazeTx business the exclusivity to apply digital transparent outdoor systems to buildings and other structures in a large and rapidly growing market, please refer to the marketing section above.
Another patent that protects the more detailed design of the ViGlazeTX system construction was granted for the Eurasian region (priority date is 28.12.2006) and an international patent application has been filed and is currently under consideration by the international patent office in Geneva. By November 2008 the development will need to be protected at the national level, in each individual country or patent region. The appropriate financial provision has to be made for patent registration and protection in each major market. The provisional search conducted by the Patent Office of products currently on the market showed that there is no system currently which incorporates the transparent background (glass pack) with an LED screen. This means that there is a very low possibility of not being granted the patent, and therefore there is a high possibility that the ViGlazeTx business will be the sole supplier of transparent digital visual media systems in most major markets in the world for decades to come.
In return for commercial support to the inventors Alchemie Technology has established provisional agreements with the patent holders of both patents to acquire the rights for the patents and new patent applications.
Future improvements to the technology that can be used to strengthen the IPR protection that the inventors are working on include: 3D imaging which will be achieved through spacing of the LED clusters in 3 dimensions. This will allow 3D holographic images to be displayed over the building structure. Transparent printed circuit boards and LED microcircuit miniaturisation that will lead to increased system transparency and increases in resolution and brightness. Technology clustering with Visual and Acoustic Media integration (Feonic PLc) will enable sight and sound to be achievable from a glazed transparent system, a true transparent multi media system.
Structured collaboration with leading designers, architects and creative media executives will continually develop, value add and increasingly protect the ViGlazeTx intellectual property space
